Mayo Clinic Libraries developed a product called Public Web Browser (PWB) to provide a controlled environment for Web access to resources in place of a general Internet browser. PWB is implemented as part of a thin-client solution, using Winterms and a central terminal server. Library staff no longer have to rebuild a workstation after settings have been changed by users. PWB includes features such as a link within the browser to the Windows Internet Policy and a timer that can be set to exit or restart the session after a specified period of inactivity. PWB was featured in the July 15, 2002, issue of American Libraries in an article called
"Does your Library Need a Different Browser?"
