Welcome to Mayo Clinic Libraries, where traditional collections blend with the
digital world and expert services to support Mayo Clinic’s institutional
values, culture and mission of providing extraordinary patient care.
Resources include the Mayo Digital Library, a rich array of electronic discovery tools and full-text resources, available 24/7 at the desktops of all employees
and students throughout the institution. Services and collections are offered in 18 professionally
staffed, central libraries and archives. Digital and traditional collections cover the
entirety of clinical medicine, biomedical research areas, nursing, and related fields.
The extensive collection of current journals includes approximately 5,000 titles, of which
3,500 are full text. Approximately 400,000 traditional volumes (books,
audiovisuals, bound journal volumes) are available for discovery and scholarship. Quiet
reading rooms, group study rooms, and computer labs provide comfortable, inviting and
beautiful surroundings for learning and collaboration. Check the Quick Facts section for
additional collection and usage statistics of the Mayo Clinic Libraries.
We offer online training, expert literature research, interlibrary loan, electronic document delivery, and other specialized assistance without charge to staff or students. Other services include a database-driven intranet site and online requests for library services. A professional medical bookstore and specialized libraries and archives enhance Mayo Clinic Libraries’ ability to provide exceptional services to staff and students.
Our systems and intranet Web design and functionality are explained in more detail in the Information Systems section, as the majority of the library’s systems are protected by the Mayo Clinic computer security firewall. A view
of selected facilities is contained in the section entitled Our Facilities. Information professionals will find additional information about the Mayo Clinic Libraries in the For Information Professionals pages on this Web site.
