Historical Archives former Trustees meeting room The history of Mayo Clinic is the special province of Historical Archives, also known as Mayo Foundation Archives.  Historical Archives is responsible for acquiring, organizing, preserving, promoting, and providing research tools and services to make accessible the recorded memory of individuals and organizations which have shaped Mayo Clinic’s unique culture and history.

The archival collections contain official records of Mayo Clinic and its administrative offices, official and unofficial publications, departmental annual reports, committee minutes, records of organizations, as well as personal papers and memorabilia pertaining to Mayo Clinic and its programs, staff and students.  Services include research consultations, records-retainment consultation (e.g., department minutes, annual reports, etc.) photocopying, and assistance on historical presentations (quotes, facts, images).

Historical Archives uses the Star Archives and Star Museum online management systems to manage the manuscript and artifact collections of Mayo Clinic. These systems and Web-finding tools are not currently accessible via the Internet.
