My primary interest is Diagnosis and Treatment of Depression. This interest relates to efforts at Mayo Clinic in primary care to identify depression and provide evidence based treatment for depression. The efficacy of treatment for depression both pharmacotherapy and evidence based psychotherapy have been demonstrated in controlled studies. Depression remains underidentified in primary care settings and the most effective psychotherapy are not provided in day-to-day clinical practice. We are working on depression algorithms. My research interests also involve the effective collaboration of mental health specialists and primary care providers. At Mayo Clinic we have colloborated on internally funded projects to identify depressoin in primary care and to link mental health resources more effectively within primary care.
