A Study Of Epilepsy, Changes In Hormones, And Ovarian Function During Menopause (ECHO)

About this study

The purpose of this study is to determine how seizure frequency and severity change during menopause and the perimenopausal transition.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Females between 35 – 60 years

  • Diagnosis of epilepsy based on ICD9 and ICD10 codes

  • Evaluated by a neurologist at a Mayo Clinic site

  • Willing and able to complete the survey

 

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • Males

  • Females < 35 years and > 60 years

  • Non-English speaking
