About this study
The purpose of this study is to result in adaptable, minimally tailored virtual human technology (VHT) recruitment intervention for increasing older adult minority participation rates in active NIH-funded clinical trials (CTs).
Participation eligibility
Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.
The research team will conduct focus groups with older adult minorities and decisional support providers (N=40) and adapt ALEX to be culturally appropriate (Black/African American, Hispanic/Latinx, and/or rural adults over the age of 50) and address their experiences and concerns about CTs.
Prospective participants (n=30) who (1) are over the age of 50, (2) identify as Black/African American, Hispanic/Latinx, and/or who live in a rural county in Florida, and (3) have experience participating in a CT will be eligible to participate.
Decisional support providers (n=10) who (1) are over the age of 18 and (2) provide decisional healthcare support for an older adult minority will be eligible to participate.
