About the Lab
The Nanomedicine and Extracellular Vesicles Laboratory of Joy Wolfram, Ph.D., at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, focuses on nanomedicine to develop new strategies for the treatment of disease.
In particular, Dr. Wolfram is leading research to develop extracellular vesicle therapeutics for liver regeneration and methods for organotropic drug delivery. The Nanomedicine and Extracellular Vesicles Lab is developing new treatments for metastatic breast cancer and various forms of liver damage.
Nanotechnology enables the design of multifunctional and targeted therapies, thereby increasing therapeutic efficacy and reducing side effects of treatment for breast cancer, liver damage and other conditions.
Dr. Wolfram's ultimate goal is to bring new nanomedicine treatments to clinical practice at Mayo Clinic. Dr. Wolfram also aspires to generate fruitful interinstitutional research collaborations around the world with researchers also focusing on extracellular vesicles, microvesicles, drug delivery, nanodelivery and nanotechnology.
