Determination leads Lexington, Kentucky Native to Rochester, Minnesota

In 2006, 67-year-old Barbara Welch, a mother of three and part owner of a wholesale book distribution company, began experiencing an unexplainable and startling condition that caused her to vomit the food and beverages she consumed. At first it only happened weekly, but soon it progressed to the point where the Lexington, Kentucky native wasn't digesting any food, and she knew she had to act quickly.

A Message from God, or Mayo Clinic?

Wayne Stillman never thought a lot about how chance events in life really do matter. That is, until the discovery of a medical condition in his sister led to the discovery of a deadly form of cancer in him.

"When I think about how lucky I am to be alive, I often wonder who really stepped in to save my life — was it a message from God or was it the Mayo Clinic?" ponders Stillman, an otherwise healthy 68-year-old.
