Jayant A. Talwalkar, M.D., is a hepatologist with training in clinical effectiveness research. He is interested in defining the care processes that deliver high quality, patient-centered medical care for populations affected by chronic liver disease and cirrhosis. The work of Dr. Talwalkar and his team is done in collaboration with colleagues in the Center for the Science of Health Care Delivery.

Focus areas

  • Exploring the causes for reducing unnecessary variations in diagnostic and surveillance test practices in populations with chronic liver disease
  • Studying the quality of referrals for ambulatory and hospital-based specialty care and identifying best practices resulting in value to patients, providers and organizations
  • Training and workforce development in health care delivery research
