Summary

Dr. Miller is a researcher in the Division of Cardiovascular Surgery with the academic appointment of Assistant Professor the Departments of Surgery and Physiology.

His research program focuses on three main areas: 1) understanding mechanisms contributing to aortic valve and atherosclerotic plaque calcification, 2) identification of reciprocal regulators of skeletal and cardiovascular calcification, and 3) understanding mechanisms contributing to vasomotor dysfunction in health and disease.

Through the use of molecular screening on human tissue, novel strains of genetically modified mice, and in vitro/cell culture methods, Dr. Miller's research aims to develop novel therapies for the treatment of cardiovascular disease and age-related pathologies. Research in his laboratory is supported by the National Institutes of Health.
