Pilot and Feasibility Program

The Mayo Clinic Diabetes Research Center's Pilot and Feasibility Program has three main goals:

  • To support the timely translation of innovative research ideas about diabetes and obesity into full-fledged projects
  • To provide funds to support new investigators just beginning their careers in diabetes research
  • To support innovative research proposals from experienced investigators who plan to change their area of research

The Pilot and Feasibility Program also has several aims:

  • To identify and support new diabetes and obesity research investigators
  • To attract talented investigators from other disciplines into diabetes and obesity research
  • To produce hypothesis-generating feasibility data that are necessary for justifying greater investment in definitive, larger studies
  • To analyze data acquired in ongoing or previous studies to explore hypotheses that may guide the selection and design of future studies
