The Center for Regenerative Medicine educates members of the health care team and patients about regenerative medicine and its implications in practice.
Lectures, mentored experiences, presentations, undergraduate programs and courses containing components of regenerative medicine and surgery are available via:
- Innovative Minds Partnering to Advance Curative Therapies (IMPACT). The IMPACT Program is sponsored by Regenerative Medicine Minnesota and the Mayo Clinic Office of Applied Scholarship and Education Science. IMPACT encourages creative solutions to critical health questions through collaboration between undergraduate students and Mayo Clinic.
- Residencies and fellowships. Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education has more than 1,500 trainees and offers nearly 300 programs in virtually every medical specialty. When appropriate, these programs include a regenerative medicine rotation or component tailored to the specialty.
- Clinician-Investigator Training Program. The Clinician-Investigator Training Program provides two years of mentored research training for individuals in a Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education clinical residency or fellowship. Several positions are available in the program each year.
Graduate courses. Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences provides advanced scientific training in biomedical research. The Center for Regenerative Medicine collaborates with Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and the Mayo Clinic Center for Clinical and Translational Science to offer a regenerative medicine course.
The 12-lecture course, MPET 6820: Regenerative Medicine Principles to Practice, encompasses the discovery-translation-application continuum, enabling students to become proficient in key concepts underlying stem cell platforms and giving them insight into new therapeutic and diagnostic opportunities in regenerative medicine and surgery.
- Medical school courses. By integrating regenerative medicine into its curriculum, Mayo Clinic School of Medicine educates and prepares medical students to be physician leaders in regenerative medicine who are able to blend the art and science of the field into their chosen area of practice.
- Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship. The Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship provides an opportunity for undergraduates interested in a research career to work with established investigators conducting original biomedical research.
- Regenerative Medicine Minnesota. Mayo Clinic researchers have been awarded grants to support innovative research, drive regenerative medicine biobusiness and biotechnology, and develop outreach education programs to further the field of regenerative medicine.
