Why did you choose research as a career?

As a medical student, I recognize the importance of research in our career. Research provides a unique opportunity to concretize, develop and transform what only began as a simple idea into a possible solution for an unanswered question. It offers the chance to impact an entire community and contribute to patient wellness on multiple levels.

The development and mastering of research techniques will help me become a better physician and will provide the required tools for my future contributions to the field of orthopedic surgery.

What attracted you to Mayo Graduate School?

Mayo Clinic. This institution has the perfect balance between research and clinical practice. I knew that Mayo Graduate School would provide the perfect environment for my development in the research field while also stimulating my formation as a physician and future orthopedic surgeon.

Why did you choose the clinical and translational science track?

This track presents the perfect balance between basic science and clinical research.

What do you like about living in Rochester, Minnesota?

The small-town atmosphere. It is totally different from Puerto Rico. Rochester has enchanted me with the simplicity of daily life and the politeness of its people.

What are your plans for the future?

Complete my medical degree and pursue a career in orthopedic surgery focused on academia and clinical research.
