Mayo's genotyping facility (Genotyping Shared Resource, GSR) was created in January 2000 to support genomic research by providing instrumentation, technical support, and education for researchers within the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center. Now supported by both the Mayo Genomics and Mayo Cancer Centers, the GSR provides genotyping support for all Mayo investigators. Under the direction of Dr. Julie Cunningham, the GSR provides genotyping for microsatellite repeats and VNTRs using ABI 3730 and 3100 DNA sequencers, genome wide genotyping using Applied Biosystems linkage mapping sets and Affymetrix GeneChip technologies, single nucleotide polymorphisms, Beckman's SNPstream , Illumina's GoldenGate genotyping and Pyrosequencing PSQ technologies.
