Detection of Barrett's esophagus dysplasia

Grading Barret's esophagus dysplasia is a difficult task, even for pathologists specializing in this area. The Radiology Informatics Lab is developing a computer-assisted tool to detect grades of Barrett's esophagus dysplasia using whole-slide imaging of pathology slides.

Our hope is that artificial intelligence (AI) will increase the consistency and accuracy of dysplasia grading. We also are studying whether AI might be able to predict which patients with low-grade dysplasia are likely to progress to higher grade disease.
