Dr. Wolfram's lab is developing biological nanoparticle-based biomarkers for brain metastasis.

Dr. Wolfram and her research team in the Nanomedicine and Extracellular Vesicles Laboratory are helping address the urgent need to develop strategies for early detection of brain metastasis.

The spread of cancer cells to other locations in the body is the primary cause of cancer deaths. Like other cells, cancer cells shed small structures called extracellular vesicles into the blood that help them invade distant organs.

Our lab is studying extracellular vesicles that mediate brain metastasis in hopes of identifying biomarkers that could lead to new diagnostic tests, with the eventual goal of saving lives.
