Projects

In addition to the BRAIN Study and IMPACT Study, the Exercise Neuropsychology Lab is working on these projects:

  • Prehabilitation in Patients With Multiple Myeloma Receiving CAR-T Therapy. In collaboration with physicians and physical therapists on Mayo Clinic's campus in Rochester, Minnesota, our team is testing the feasibility and preliminary effects of a remotely delivered exercise program for adults who are older and have been diagnosed with relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma and are scheduled to receive chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cell therapy (CAR-T cell therapy).
  • The YMCA and Mayo Clinic Cooperation for Community Wellness. This project creates a community-academic partnership between the Valley of the Sun YMCA and Mayo Clinic. This partnership supports clinician referral of patients to community-based physical activity programming via a direct, digitally enabled pathway.

Recently completed research projects include:

  • Study on Physical Activity's Relationship With Cancer and Cognition (SPARCC). This project examined the preliminary effects of a 12-week walking program compared with usual care on executive function and working memory in women diagnosed with breast cancer.
