Research priorities in the Division of Epidemiology are directed toward questions emanating from programmatic areas of research excellence within Mayo Clinic, important clinical practice questions about the application of specific diagnostic or therapeutic technologies, and other high-impact areas.
Research studies originate from within the Division of Epidemiology and Mayo Clinic consultation staff and through collaboration with other Mayo Clinic colleagues.
The goals of these studies are to:
- Improve knowledge of the causes, natural history and outcome of disease in the community and in Mayo Clinic's practice
- Help define population needs
- Help define efficacious and cost-effective approaches to delivering specific procedures and technologies
Research within the Division of Epidemiology is made possible mainly through grant funding from the National Institutes of Health and research foundations and through collaborations with industry.
