Overview
Tab Title Description
Study type
ObservationalDescribes the nature of a clinical study. Types include:
- Observational study — observes people and measures outcomes without affecting results.
- Interventional study (clinical trial) — studies new tests, treatments, drugs, surgical procedures or devices.

About this study
The purpose of this study is to demonstrate successful NMP of explanted livers bearing hepatic malignancies at Mayo Clinic Florida, confirm organ viability throughout perfusion, and complete systematic pre- and post-perfusion biopsy collection from tumor lesions and adjacent normal liver tissue.
Participation eligibility
Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.
Inclusion Criteria:
Patients undergoing or that have undergone liver transplant for colorectal cancer with liver metastases at Mayo Clinic Florida.
Age 18 years or older at the time of surgery.
Histologically confirmed colorectal cancer diagnosis and clinical evidence of liver metastases.
Exclusion Criteria:
Explanted organ not technically suitable for NMP perfusion (e.g., vascular anatomy precluding cannulation).
Warm ischemia time at hepatectomy exceeding acceptable thresholds for organ viability.
Patients unwilling or unable to provide informed consent, where consent is required.
Note: Other protocol defined Inclusion/Exclusion Criteria may apply.
Eligibility last updated 05/20/2026. Questions regarding updates should be directed to the study team contact.
