About this study
The purpose of this study is to identify accessible, biomechanically informed interventions to reduce stress urinary incontinence in parous female runners.
Participation eligibility
Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.
Inclusion Criteria:
Eligible participants will be healthy, nonpregnant, female volunteers with self-reported urinary incontinence during running with history of at least one prior delivery after 32 weeks gestation and who run 6 miles/week with a preferred cadence of less than or equal to 170 steps per minute determined via personal report from current Garmin watch data.
Participants must own their own or have access to a Garmin watch.
Exclusion Criteria:
Unwillingness to complete all components of the study, urge only urinary incontinence, <3 months postpartum or current pregnancy, history of prolapse repair or incontinence surgery.
Participants will also be excluded if they do not own or utilize a Garmin watch that provides cadence assessment and alarm.
