A Study Of Penicillin Allergy De-Labeling

About this study

The purpose of this study is to investigate barriers and facilitators to PCN allergy de-labeling in primary care practice with qualitative methods. The purpose of the study is to understand patient experience with penicillin allergy and patients’ perspective on penicillin allergy delabeling.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Patients:  Penicillin allergic individuals who receive primary care at MGH, BWH or affiliated networks, and had a PCN allergy label at some point from 2015 to 2022.

  • Individuals must be 18+

  • Clinicians: All clinicians (MD, DO, PA, NP, RN) in the primary care department at MGH, BWH or affiliated networks

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Anyone who does not have a penicillin allergy, does not receive primary care at MGH, BWH or affiliated networks

  • Clinicians not working at MGH, BWH or affiliated networks
