A Study Of Pudendal Nerve Block Analgesia During Pelvic Floor Onabotulinumtoxin For Myofascial Pelvic Pain

About this study

The purpose of this study is to compare postoperative pain via numeric scale rating (NRS) at discharge among two groups: (1) PNB with ropivacaine, and (2) and standard of care postoperative pain control without PNB block.

 

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria: 

  • Age ≥18 years.

  • Diagnosed MFPP requiring pelvic floor BTA after failed conservative therapy i.e. pelvic floor physical therapy and/or vaginal diazepam suppositories.

  • Planned outpatient BTA under monitored anesthesia care.

  • Able to provide informed consent and comply with follow-up

 

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • Allergy/intolerance to study anesthetics formulations.

  • Coagulopathy/therapeutic anticoagulation not correctable per site policy.

  • Infection at injection site; systemic infection.

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding.

  • Prior pudendal neurolysis or known pudendal neuropathy with major sensory loss.

  • Severe hepatic/renal disease precluding local anesthetic use, per investigator.

  • Inability to consent or complete follow-up.

  • Prior study participation
