A Study To Evaluate A Tool To Elicit Patient Preferences For Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Treatment

About this study

The purpose of this study is to test a new method of eliciting patient preferences for treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). We hope to determine if this tool is effective at aiding patients in making decisions about their carpal tunnel care.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • All new patients (≥ 18 years), visiting the Orthopaedic Hand Service.
  • English fluency and literacy.
  • Able to take informed consent.
  • Suspected diagnosis of carpal tunnel syndrome.

​Exclusion Criteria:

 

  • Prior diagnostic testing for carpal tunnel (nerve test, ultrasound).
  • Prior carpal tunnel release.
  • Diagnosis of C5/6 radiculopathy (double crush).
