A Study Of Acute Stimulation For The Modulation Of Epileptic Events With A Closed-Loop Brain Interchange System In Drug Resistant Epilepsy

About this study

The purpose of this study is to investigate the feasibility of detecting and modulating pathological high-frequency oscillations (HFOs) generated by the seizure onset zone (SOZ) of drug-resistant epilepsy patients using CorTec's Brain Interchange Evaluation Kit (manual provided as supplementary material).

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Any patient with a diagnosis of refractory epilepsy, who is under the care of one of the investigators, and who will undergo intracranial EEG monitoring for clinical indications, who consent to be in the study.

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • Any patient not undergoing EEG monitoring as part of their clinical course, or who do not consent to participate in the study. Neonates and children under the age of 3 will not be enrolled.
