A Study Of A Shared Decision Tool For Carotid Artery Disease

About this study

The purpose of this study is to test the level of satisfaction in patients that will undergo carotid revascularization after using a shared decision-making tool, compared to a standard pre-operative visit.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Adults (≥18 years) evaluated for carotid artery disease/stenosis in the vascular surgery clinic

  • Candidate for any of the management pathways discussed in the consult (medical management, CEA, TCAR, or TFCAS)

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Inability to provide informed consent (e.g., cognitive impairment without a legally authorized representative)

  • Inability to complete the questionnaire in the available language/format (if translations are not available)
