A Study Of Cannabis Risk Messaging For Teens And Young Adults

About this study

The purpose of this study is to explore how adolescents aged 14-17 years old (n=12) interpret, emotionally respond to, and evaluate cannabis-related health messages.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Adolescents aged 14–17

  • English-speaking

  • Self-reported use of cannabis products in the past 30 days

  • Established care with an MCHS primary care or mental health provider in the past 12 months

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Lack of English language fluency

  • Inability to provide oral informed consent (assessed via decisional capacity screening)

  • Presence of a DSM-5 diagnosis of current moderate-to-severe substance use disorder (excluding cannabis or nicotine)

  • Lifetime or current psychotic disorder or episode (other than cannabis-induced)

  • Diagnosis of a neurodevelopmental disorder or intellectual disability
