A Study Of The Asthma-Guidance And Prediction System (A-GPS)

Overview

About this study

The purpose of this study is to set up systems for collecting data points (model outputs, patient features and demographics, logs of dashboard access) by which to collect metrics to track usage and testing the performance of A-GPS both on an ongoing basis and, where possible, retrospectively (from the start date of electronic health records in Epic).

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Children living in a Mayo Clinic Rochester and/or Mayo Clinic Health System catchment area by ZIP Code

  • Children who have assigned primary care providers of Mayo Clinic

  • Children who had a visit (virtual or in-person), telephone, or portal correspondence within past 4 calendar years inclusive (Jan 1st, 2020 – Dec 31st, 2024)

  • Children with a physician diagnosis of asthma (ICD-9 of 493 or ICD-10 of J45)

  • Those whose parents authorized using medical records of their children for research

 

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Children with the presence of comorbidity conditions that could affect the accuracy of case ascertainment for asthma (such as bronchiectasis, pulmonary fibrosis, cystic fibrosis, alpha 1 anti-trypsin deficiency, primary ciliary dyskinesia, COPD, malignancy ever, immunodeficiency disorders or conditions identified by the International Union of Immunological Societies or receiving immunosuppressive therapies).
