A Study Of Diagnostics And New Sequencing Technologies In Cancer Genetics

About this study

The goal of this study is to define the best testing practices in cancer genetics using new available technologies.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • 18 years of age

  • Participant agrees to the study procedures and timelines and signs the Informed Consent Form.

  • Prior non-diagnostic next generation cancer panel facilitated by the Department of Clinical Genomics Genetic Counselor.

  • Have one of the two following:

    • Personal history of cancer before the age of 50

    • Multiple primary cancer diagnoses at any age.

  • Family history of at least one first degree relative and one for the following:

    • one second degree relative with cancer,

    • a relative with multiple cancers,

    • limited family structure.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • No personal diagnosis cancer.

  • Does not meet National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) criteria.

  • Deceased patients.

  • Patients who are unwilling to have additional genetic testing done for the purpose of this study

     

    * If a suspicious VUS is identified, the participant’s immediate family members (who are informative) would be invited to participate in order obtain additional data that would aid in reclassification of the VUS to benign or pathogenic.
