Plant-based Diet to Lessen Daytime Sleepiness in Sleep Apnea Patients

About this study

The purpose of this study is to assess the level of daytime sleepiness by Epworth Sleepiness Questionnaire in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) before and after a plant based diet challenge for a period of 21 days.

 

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • 18-70 years of age.
  • Daytime sleepiness with ESS score ≥ 5.

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • Diabetes.
  • Pregnancy or lactation.
  • Current use of a vegan diet.
  • BMI ≤ 22.
