COVID Nurses Support Group

Overview

About this study

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of support group participation on well-being, anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress-like symptoms among nurses on COVID-19 units. Nurses on COVID units will be asked to participate in weekly 45-minute-long support group sessions for three months. 

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Nurses will be recruited from three COVID patient serving nursing units at Mayo Clinic, Florida. The screening population is 100 participants. 
  • Study information, format, risks vs. benefits, and staff questions will be addressed in all-staff meetings, followed by a study registration link via the chat feature in zoom to all participants.
  • The registration link will contain the consent form and the pre-survey. A follow-up email will be sent to all unit staff with the same details and a registration link. There will also be flyers placed in staff break areas. The participants will have two weeks to register for the study.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Nursing staff in three COVID-patient serving nursing units at Mayo Clinic, Florida who are not interested in participating.
