A Study to Collect Serum Samples from Patients Presenting for Aortic Valve Replacement

About this study

The purpose of this study is to identify non-HLA and non-gal protein antigens in transplanted xenogenic tissues (ie bovine pericardial heart valves) that can then be used to preemptively identify and overcome graft-specific immune responses.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Patients who will receive either a biological or mechanical heart valve.

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • History of cancer, autoimmune diseases, or previous valve implants.
