About this study

This study is being done to determine the long-term effects of different kinds of breast surgeries on women’s health-related quality of life from the patient’s perspective. The information will also provide information to assist in improving the quality of care given to patients.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. If you need assistance understanding the eligibility criteria, please contact the study team.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • All patients over the age of 18 who have undergone mastectomy, lumpectomy, reconstruction with expander/implant and autologous reconstruction at Mayo Clinic Rochester between January 2011 and December 2015 will be included in this study.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Patients undergoing diagnostic biopsy and those with a prior history of breast cancer or recurrent disease will be excluded.
