About this study

The purpose of this study is for evaluating an ultrasound-based technology (similar to standard clinical echocardiography) for measuring the stiffness of your heart muscle and your peripheral arteries. This type of information may prove to be clinically important.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:    

  • Group 1 (Healthy volunteers):
    • Normal diastolic function by echocardiographic assessment
  • Group 2 (Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction):
    • Clinical diagnosis of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction as determined by patient's cardiologist

Exclusion Criteria:   

  • Ejection fraction < 50%, any evidence of specific cardiomyopathy (ischemic, infiltrative, valvular)
