Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences at Mayo Clinic's campus in Rochester, Minnesota, offers diverse and challenging clinical experiences to students enrolled in an accredited nurse practitioner program.
To participate in Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences' Nurse Practitioner Clinical Residency, you must be a practicing nurse at Mayo Clinic or within the Mayo Clinic Health System and enrolled in an accredited nurse practitioner (NP) program that is not fully online.
Below is a list of preferred schools, though other institutions will also be considered.
For psychiatric-mental health track only
Your college or university program director and Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences Nurse Practitioner Clinical Residency program director arrange your clinical experiences.
The clinicals are facilitated by Mayo Clinic professional providers, including NPs, physician assistants, physicians and clinical nurse specialists (mental health only), and provide nurse practitioner students opportunities to work alongside other professionals in a multidisciplinary health care environment.
Students observe and experience the delivery of patient care in a comprehensive health care center that offers:

Our affiliated nurse practitioner education programs are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

Graduation and certification
When you successfully complete your master's or doctorate degree in nursing with population foci at your affiliated school, you are eligible to apply for the national certification via examination. You also receive a certificate from Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences indicating your successful completion of the Nurse Practitioner Clinical Residency.
For the majority of the residency, your learning schedule includes eight-hour days, three to four days a week.
Each year, the class size of the Nurse Practitioner Clinical Residency varies depending on the needs of the clinical areas within the institution. This ensures you receive a comprehensive educational experience with close one-on-one instruction.
