The city of Rochester, Minnesota, has many housing options, including apartments and single- and multiple-family homes. Housing costs vary depending on the accommodations.
Some homes and apartments are within walking distance of Mayo Clinic, with many others located along city bus routes. The size of the city makes taking call from home a viable option in some situations.
More information about housing is available from the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce, a real estate agent or the Rochester Post-Bulletin newspaper. Mayo Fellows Association also maintains an electronic bulletin board designed to expedite the sale of homes owned by outgoing residents and fellows to incoming residents and fellows. Rental aggregator sites such as Trulia may be of use. For short-term housing needs, visit RotatingRoom.com. (Mayo Clinic does not endorse these sites but presents them as options for finding housing.)
Several moving companies have contractual agreements with Mayo Clinic to provide discounts on services to incoming and outgoing Mayo Clinic fellows, residents and students. View a list and learn how to receive a discount.
Note: Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education does not reimburse or compensate trainees for any moving expenses.
