Chelsea Adams, B.A.

Chelsea Adams joined the Neurobiology of Disease Ph.D. Program in 2010. Chelsea developed an interest in neurological diseases in high school while volunteering in the Alzheimer’s unit at the Scioto Community nursing home in Columbus, Ohio. She continued to pursue her interests at Kenyon College where she carried out research on behavior and neurochemistry using transgenic mice, a mouse model for autism.

Doo-Sup Choi, Ph.D.

Doo-Sup Choi is a molecular biologist and neuroscientist. He graduated from the Department of Biochemistry at Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea with BS (1988) and MS (1990).

Dr. Choi worked for Samsung (CJ Foods and Chemicals) from 1991 to 1993 and following that, completed his Ph.D. at the Louis Pasteur University in Strasbourg, France in 1997. He carried out his Ph.D. research on the neurobiological and developmental roles of novel serotonin 5-HT2B receptors in mice.

Sun Choi is an expert in animal husbandry. Before coming to Mayo, Sun worked at the University of California - San Francisco for about six months. Prior to that, she completed several biology-related courses at San Francisco City College and College of Marin, California.

Nayoung Kang graduated in 2010 from the University of Georgia with a BS degree in Biology. She worked as an undergraduate researcher for four semesters at the Department of Pharmaceutial and Biomedical Sciences, characterizing mutations of human equilibrative nucleoside transporter3 (hENT3).

Tae Hyun Kim completed a masters degree at Yonsei/KAIST program in the field of electrophysiology and neurobiology and published several peer-reviewed papers. Subsequently, he joined the Molecular Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics Program of Mayo Graduate School.

M. Ryan Lee, B.A.

Ryan Lee graduated from Grinnell College, Iowa, in 2007 with honors in Chemistry. Prior to his college education, he attended an internationally renowned high school in Korea and was awarded a silver prize in Korean Chemistry Olympiad in 2001. He also was one of the top finalists to be selected as a participant for the 2002 International Chemistry Olympiad.

Hyung W. Nam, Ph.D.

Hyung Wook Nam, Ph.D., is a biochemist and expert in the areas of protein biochemistry, proteomics, and metabolomics. He received his Ph.D. in 2006 from the Yonsei University, Korea. After joining our laboratory, he has established several key experiments such as iTRAC proteomics and in vivo microdialysis to explore molecular changes in the animal brain.

Christina holds a BA in Psychology from Miami University and joined our lab after completing a Ph.D. in Physiology at Kent State University. There, she studied the interaction between alcohol and biological rhythms using several animal models.
