A number of former members of Dr. Farrugia's laboratory continue to work in the field of gastrointestinal physiology.

  • Pedro Julian (July) Gomez Pinilla, Ph.D., is a former postdoctoral fellow who is now working in the Translational Research Center for Gastrointestinal Disorders at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium, with Guy Boeckxstaens, M.D., Ph.D.
  • Purna Kashyap, M.B.B.S., is a former clinical research fellow who is currently doing a Mayo-sponsored fellowship on the role of intestinal microbiota in health and disease in the laboratory of Justin Sonnenburg, Ph.D., at Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif.
  • Robert Kraichely, M.D., is a former clinical research fellow who is currently a consultant in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Mayo Clinic. Dr. Kraichely holds the academic rank of assistant professor of medicine in the College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic.
  • Adam Rich, Ph.D., is a former postdoctoral fellow who continues to actively collaborate with Dr. Farrugia's team. Dr. Rich is now an associate professor at The College at Brockport, State University of New York, in Brockport, N.Y., working on the gastrointestinal biology of zebrafish.
  • Mira Wouters, Ph.D., is a former postdoctoral fellow who is now working in the Translational Research Center for Gastrointestinal Disorders at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium, with Dr. Guy Boeckxstaens.
