About Dr. Copland
John A. (Al) Copland, Ph.D., is an associate professor of biochemistry and molecular biology at Mayo Clinic in Florida.
Dr. Copland received his undergraduate degree in chemistry from Columbus College and his Ph.D. in physiology and endocrinology from the Medical College of Georgia. He completed postdoctoral training in cellular and molecular biology at the University of Texas Medical Branch. In 2003, Dr. Copland moved his research laboratory to Mayo Clinic in Florida.
Research in Dr. Copland's laboratory is primarily focused on renal, thyroid and triple-negative breast cancers. The goal of this research is to understand molecular signaling pathways key to tumorigenesis and develop effective molecular-targeted therapeutics.
