Summary

James E. Rohrer, Ph.D., has a primary interest in observational (nonrandomized) studies of practice innovations and clinic differences using management indicators and short-term impact measures.

Focus areas

Dr. Rohrer's studies can be described as managerial epidemiology, health services research and quality improvement. Recent projects have examined:

  • Retail medicine
  • After-hours call systems
  • Continuity of care

Significance to patient care

Dr. Rohrer's studies of retail medicine have shown how these practice sites can increase access without reducing the quality of care. His other studies of practice differences improve access to care by increasing the efficiency of clinical operations. Quality improvement studies by Dr. Rohrer contribute to enhanced patient outcomes.
