Summary
Although I enjoy all aspects of otology and neurotology, I have two areas of interest for research purposes.
First, cochlear implants (both in children and adults) is an area of explosive growth in understanding and treating deafness.
Secondly, otosclerosis and its surgical treatment, stapedectomy, is undergoing refinement in technique, especially with the use of lasers during stapedectomy surgery.
I am also director of the
James and Martha Crawford Clinical Research Fellowship in Otolaryngology at Mayo Clinic Florida. This is an annual clinical research (non-patient contact)program designed primarily to mentor clinical research in Otolaryngology.
