Erik P. Hess, M.D., is an emergency medicine physician and health services researcher with an interest in emergency cardiovascular care.
The long-term goal of Dr. Hess' research program is to improve the diagnosis, management efficiency and patient experience of care for acute cardiovascular conditions in the emergency setting.
Dr. Hess' work has been funded by the American Heart Association, the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine, and the Foundation for Informed Medical Decision Making.

- Diagnosis of acute heart disease, particularly acute myocardial infarction and the evaluation of possible acute coronary syndromes
- Clinical research methodology, particularly the development and validation of clinical prediction rules and the development and testing of patient-centered, shared decision-making approaches to care in the acute setting
