Summary

Areas of research interest for Gunjan Y. Gandhi, M.D., are hospital management of diabetes; transplant-associated hyperglycemia; and patient-important outcomes in chronic conditions, such as diabetes.

Dr. Gandhi has methodological expertise in the conduct of clinical trials, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, and evidence-based clinical practice.

Focus areas

  • Optimal management of hospital hyperglycemia following organ transplants, especially liver transplants
  • Utility of preoperative glycosylated hemoglobin in predicting outcomes following surgical procedures
  • Management of hyperglycemia during surgical procedures

Significance to patient care

The ultimate goal of Dr. Gandhi's research is to improve outcomes in people with diabetes, especially when they get hospitalized or have surgical procedures.

He and his colleagues also aim to provide evidence-based guidelines for the management of hyperglycemia that develops in people who receive organ transplants.
