About this study
The purpose of this study is to refine, validate, and establish operational readiness of a theory-informed, EHR-embedded outreach strategy for influenza and COVID-19 vaccination.
Participation eligibility
Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.
Inclusion Criteria:
Patients empaneled to participating primary care practices in Rochester and Kasson
Age 65 years or older at the time of cohort identification.
Due or overdue for at least one target respiratory virus vaccine (influenza, COVID‑19) based on EHR immunization records.
All inclusion criteria used by CKIS as part of usual care for this population and patient outreach process.
For inclusion in the research dataset and analytic cohort, patients must have provided Mayo Clinic research authorization (analyses will be restricted accordingly; outreach as part of routine care may occur regardless of authorization status).
Exclusion Criteria:
Documentation of receipt of both target vaccines for the target season.
Documented medical contraindication or allergy to the relevant vaccine(s)
Enrollment in hospice or receipt of comfort‑focused end‑of‑life care at the time of cohort identification
Explicit documentation of vaccine refusal or permanent declination for the current season when additional outreach would be inconsistent with clinical intent
Absence of any available outreach modality
All exclusion criteria utilized by CKIS as part of usual care for this population and patient outreach process
Note: Other protocol defined Inclusion/Exclusion Criteria may apply.
Eligibility last updated 06/08/2026. Questions regarding updates should be directed to the study team contact.
