A Study Of From ICU To Recovery: Outcomes In Sepsis Survivors

About this study

The purpose of this study is to identify center-level and individual patient factors (including clinical characteristics and infectious factors such as pathogen type and time to adequate antibiotherapy) associated with poor long-term patient-centered outcomes at 6 months post-ICU admission for sepsis.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Adult patients (≥18 years)

  • Diagnosed with sepsis (community or hospital-acquired) on ICU admission based on the following[20]:

    • Sepsis diagnosis on ICU admission as per clinician AND

    • SEPSIS-3 criteria

    • OR

    • Only sepsis diagnosis on ICU admission as per clinician if SEPSIS-3 criteria are not available as per local protocol

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • Refusal to participate.

  • Inability to ensure follow-up (e.g., overseas residence, no fixed home address).

  • Sepsis acquired in the ICU

  • Patient admitted for palliative care

  • Impaired capacity for judgment to provide informed consent
