A Study Of CRC Using Breath And Urine Analysis

About this study

The purpose of this study is to to develop a non-invasive diagnostic platform for colorectal cancer (CRC) detection using volatile organic compounds (VOCs) found in exhaled breath.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Age 18–85 years

  • Confirmed diagnosis of colon or rectal cancer (any stage)

  • Sample collected prior to initiation of systemic (chemotherapy) or surgical resection of the primary cancer

  • Willingness to provide breath and urine samples.

  • Ability to provide informed consent.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Active respiratory disease (e.g., COPD, asthma exacerbation)

  • Recent antibiotic use (within 30 days)

  • Recent surgery or chemotherapy (within 3 months)

  • Active tobacco, alcohol, or illicit drug use.

  • Pregnancy
