A Study Of Patient Comfort With Waist Circumference And Waist-to-Hip Ratio Versus Routine Height/Weight In Transgender And Gender-Diverse Adults

About this study

The purpose of this study is to demonstrate that WC and WHR measurements are non-inferior to HW on patient-reported comfort. Non-inferiority is declared if the proportion of participants who rate the procedure “comfortable” or “very comfortable” is no more than 10 percentage points lower than for HW.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • adults (≥ 18 years of age)

  • seeking gender-affirming care;

  • English-speaking;

  • capable of standing without support;

  • Able to provide informed consent;

  • At time of being roomed for their first visit in TISCC

 

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • Pregnancy;

  • abdominal or pelvic surgery within the preceding six weeks;

  • severe musculoskeletal or neurologic disorder that prevents standing upright without support;

  • cognitive impairment.
