About this study

The purpose of this study is to advance our knowledge about healthcare system factors that influence the treatment of uterine fibroids (fibroids) among self-identified Black/African American (BAA) women receiving care from providers in multi-specialty healthcare systems.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria  - Patient:

  • Female adult non-elderly (18-64 years) patient with diagnosis of uterine fibroids.
  • Data accessed from commercial claims data from Optum Labs and the Medicaid claims data from Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, facilitated by the Research Data Assistance Center at the University of Minnesota.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Patient < 18 or over 64 years old without uterine fibroid diagnosis.

Inclusion Criteria - Provider:

  • - Healthcare providers from the departments/specialties of obstetrics/gynecology, family medicine, internal medicine and pediatrics are recruited who provide care to women with fibroids.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Healthcare provider who does not provide care to women with fibroids.
