A Study Of CFD And Other Vascular Biomechanics Of The Cerebrovascular System

Overview

About this study

The purpose of this study is to evaluate how advanced vascular biomechanics (e.g., CFD, PWV) correlate with neurovascular disease progression and patient outcomes. Determine whether advanced imaging techniques (e.g., phase-contrast MRI/4D Flow, vessel wall imaging, 7T MRI) improve the accuracy and precision of CFD modeling in patients with cerebrovascular pathologies. Assess the feasibility of using biomechanics data (including velocity, pressure and wall shear stress) to guide and potentially optimize endovascular or surgical planning.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Age ≥ 18 years

  • Known or suspected cerebrovascular lesion OR healthy (without a cerebrovascular lesion on imaging) adult control subjects (for comparison)

  • Ability to undergo MRI safely (for prospective participants)

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Non adult patients

  • Inability to complete MRI (e.g., certain pacemakers, metallic implants, or severe claustrophobia which requires sedation) for prospective arm.

Note: Other protocol defined Inclusion/Exclusion Criteria may apply.

Eligibility last updated 6/05/2025. Questions regarding updates should be directed to the study team contact.
