COMPARE-UF Extension Study: Long Term Effectiveness of Uterine Sparing Fibroid Treatments

About this study

The purpose of this study is to provide novel information on uterine-sparing procedures that directly improves the care of women with uterine fibroids by leveraging two existing studies of uterine fibroid treatments with diverse cohorts: 1) Comparing Options for Management: PAtient-centered REsults for Uterine Fibroids (COMPARE-UF); and, 2) the Uterine Leiomyoma Treatment with Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) (ULTRA) study.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

COMPARE-UF Inclusion Criteria:

  • Age 18-54 years.
  • Premenopausal defined as having had a menstrual period within the previous 3 months.
  • Documented uterine fibroids by pelvic imaging within the last 12 months or by medical records documentation such as ICD-10 or CPT codes indicating the presence of fibroids.
  • Speaks English.
  • Undergoing a uterine fibroid procedure: Hysterectomy (NOT included in this proposal); Abdominal, laparoscopic/robotic or hysteroscopic myomectomy; Endometrial ablation (EA); Radiofrequency fibroid ablation (RfA); Uterine artery embolization (UAE).

ULTRA Inclusion Criteria:

  • Age > 18 years,
  • Speaks Spanish or English, and
  • Planned to undergo laparoscopic RFA for fibroid treatment.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • < 18 years of age.
