About this study
Treating athletes for concussion requires rigorous epidemiology, objective diagnoses, a clinical treatment protocol, and informed prevention. Specifically, to test the quantified electroencephalography measured by NeuroCatch, a novel blood biomarker (SNTF), and metabolomics profiling. Such data will greatly advance evidence-based interventions, appropriate concussion management and permit USA Hockey to accurately measure the effects of our safety programs. This study is not being conducted to support an FDA submission.
Participation eligibility
Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.
Inclusion Criteria:
- The age range of potential study participants can be as young as 16 and no older than 21 (USA Hockey Junior A Tier III age limit).
- Consenting players participating in Junior A hockey and medically cleared to participate in the sport of hockey at the time of enrollment.
Exclusion Criteria:
- Any players not medically cleared or for other reasons are restricted from hockey participation will be ineligible to participate in this study.
